Mursi Tribe - Woman with Baby

This woman is from the Mursi tribe. Her village was in the lower Omo Valley in Margo National Park. Both the Suri and the Mursi tribes are collectively known as Surma. It is only the women of the Surma tribes who don the lip plates and they undergo this customary practice when they reach marriageable age. It is a status symbol.
