Suri Tribe - Women of Naregeer Village
The women of the Suri tribe in the Upper Omo valley of Ethiopia, bordering South Sudan are traditionally known for their lip plates and intricate scarification patterns on their skin, all for beautification and status. The women and children often decorate themselves with white clay patterns and flowers on their heads. Traditionally the Suri women take care of the household and child-rearing and tend to fields of sorghum, maize, beans, tobacco, and brew sorghum beer.
